Light bites of beef
Consumers looking for a meaty treat can now look forward to a slightly softer bite as The Jerky Group introduces Beef Nugget Steaks. A more tender offering than traditional beef jerky, the nuggets are thought to appeal to women.
Sales director James Newitt is certain that the new product can make its mark as a healthier snacking option. "Within the snack market, consumer habits are changing in response to health concerns. Within this context, the beef snack sector has masses of opportunity. We believe it is worth around £5M and is set to reach £35M value by 2010, offering a major opportunity for us."
The nuggets have lower salt and less than 5% fat, compared with the average 30% fat content of standard crisps, says the firm.
