Inter Link slips into red
A new distribution system helped pushed baker Inter Link Foods into the red in the six months to November 4, 2006.
Exceptional charges arising from its new national distribution centre in Warrington managed by Christian Salvesen and the departure of two senior executives forced Inter Link to post a £1.6M loss on sales down 6.8% to £62.6M.
The firm said transferring its customers to the new centre had taken longer than anticipated, resulting in cost duplication, poor vehicle utilisation and delays in ending its existing arrangements. It also lost sales from poor customer service levels.
Are retailers and caterers taking longer to pay invoices now than a year ago?
