Water mist cuts costs of fires
Tyco Fire & Integrated Solutions has launched a high pressure water mist fire protection system that offers improved protection, reduced water demand, lower installation costs and less property damage.
MicroDrop works at a pressure of 100 bar to deliver water as a fine atomised mist. This mist is quickly converted into steam that smothers the fire and prevents further oxygen from reaching it. The evaporation also creates a cooling effect.
Water mist is attractive in a range of applications where there is low water availability or where low water consumption or low water discharge is needed. Compared with conventional systems, the MicroDrop system uses up to 90% less water. This helps minimise water damage and this can help customers reduce their insurance premiums.
