Milk analysed in one minute
Dairies can now measure the composition of their milk in 60 seconds with two new ultrasound spectroscopic Milk Examiners launched by Milk-Lab UK.
The analysers can be used for a variety of milk types (cow, goat, buffalo, cream, sheep, concentrated, UHT). They will analyse samples for fat, snf (solids-not-fat), protein, density, lactose, added water, freezing point, solids, temperature, conductivity and pH. Milk samples can be tested continuously and the results printed and saved to a PC.
The Milk-Lab dairy examiners allow dairies to streamline quality control of raw and processed milk at reception and production lines, speed up product change-overs by reducing the pressure and workload on laboratory, and by standardising product quality, they help improve yield in cheese products.
The company is currently working on a 30 second version. Another version is being developed for installing in milk collection trucks. This will have a data transfer system to reduce preparation time at the dairy.
