Burns dressing alerts metal detectors
A burns dressing that shows up under metal detectors has scooped the Innovation Award for Best Non-Food Product at Belgium's Broodway 2006 show for the bakery and confectionery industry.
Designed for bakeries and industrial food processing facilities, First Water's dressing is a metal detectable, 'one-step' waterproof dressing that is easy to apply to first-degree burns.
It remains firmly in place on operators' skin when working in flour, fats or water.
The dressing incorporates a patented anti-microbial gel technology and provides an immediate cooling effect and prolonged pain relief for several days while at the same time protecting and accelerating the wound healing process.
The new dressing has an integrated layer of aluminium to ensure a strong signal is generated should it become loose and pass through a metal detector.
