Robots deliver the daily bread
Bakery equipment integrator, Eurobake, working in conjunction with Komatec, now offers a range of automated packaging and palletising systems for bakeries
Designed to integrate with bakery unloading equipment, the robotic systems will deliver goods to pre-determined destinations with minimum manual intervention. The use of such automated systems can prevent product bottlenecks forming which increase the risk of product damage, particularly in 'fresh from the oven' bakery products.
A recent installation in a volume bakery demonstrates the Komatec automated system options and benefits. The design brief from the customer was for a system capable of handling 200t of baked goods a day over six lines with nine different packing arrangements to follow. The customer also wanted flexibility and speedy change-over from product to product.
The installation comprises two robotic packaging systems with integrated conveying equipment. Wrapped bread is collected and orientated at a grouping station before a robot places the packed bread into transport crates.
The closures can be aligned pointing upwards or to the side. A patented grouping and gripping system means that only one hand wheel is needed to adjust the grouping arrangement. The grippers are suitable for very soft products such as bread coming fresh from the ovens.
