Goodie, goodie yum yums back
Finsbury Foods has finally struck a deal to contract out production of yum yums to M&L Foods' Chelmsford factory following a fire at Finsbury's United Central Bakeries (UCB) subsidiary in Bathgate, Scotland.
While manufacturers were found for most products made at UCB following the October 31 fire, finding a firm able to make 500,000 yums yums a week at short notice was a tall order, said chief executive Dave Brooks. "But we didn't give up."
More than £3M will be spent on replacing equipment destroyed in the fire, which cost the company £5M. It should be fully operational again by May.
