Sainsbury's gap year
Sainsbury is launching a gap year scheme to entice more graduates into the food industry.
Called Taste the World, the scheme will pay graduates with food or food science-based degrees up to £1,000 to travel for up to 12 months, visiting international suppliers. To qualify, they must pass through its Graduate Assessment Centre.
Professor Christine Williams from the University of Reading, one of several participating in the scheme, said: "It seems ironic that, despite becoming a nation of foodies, there has been a decrease in the number of people wanting to become food experts. We hope this whets their appetite."
Are retailers and caterers taking longer to pay invoices now than a year ago?
