Lacors signals GDA u-turn
Manufacturers using front-of-pack guideline daily amounts (GDAs) are likely to escape having to run detailed nutritional labelling alongside.
The Local Authorities Co-ordinators of Regulatory Services (Lacors) had decided that GDAs amounted to a nutritional claim and manufacturers would therefore need to state either the "Big 4" food components - calorie, fat, protein and carbohydrate contents - or the more extensive "Big 8", crowding packs further.
However, following advice from the Food Standards Agency, Lacors' labelling expert group is expected to reverse its original advice when it meets in January.
