Chequer's sugar silo spend
An investment in excess of £150,000 has seen the installation of an 11m-high sugar silo at Chequer Foods in Telford.
Custom-built, with all electrical and pneumatic installations carried out by the company's engineers, the silo has a capacity of 50t and is designed to help improve productivity and reduce the amount of sugar deliveries, says md Peter Holdway.
A new telemetry system has also been installed at the site so that stock levels can be monitored and managed electronically.
The investments are intended to strengthen the company's service to customers and to consolidate its market position in the production of sugar sticks and sachets, says Holdway.
