Lenticular and sheet filters have been added to Domnick Hunter's range of beverage micro-filtration products. "They are suitable for primary clarification, polishing, and microbial reduction in food and beverage applications, and a wide range of process liquids and applications is covered," says product manager Peter Riddell.

The cellulose-based media is available in a number of sizes and profiles for flat sheets and for installation in filter presses. Lenticular filter cartridges are for use in fully enclosed systems. In all cases, additional filter aids such as diatomaceous earth, polyvinylpolypyrrolidone (pvpp), and activated carbon can be incorporated within the media in order to enhance adsorptive effects.

The sheet media and the cartridges have been designed so that they can be sanitised and cleaned using hot water and a variety of chemicals. Steam sterilisation is available for some types. "The filters have a greater stability in service than earlier lenticular designs and they have the ability to be backwashed to extend their service life," says Riddell.

Also added to the range are hygienic lenticular cartridge housings which are designed for hot water sanitisation and steam sterilisation. These housings are offered in 12in diameter and 16in diameter and 10in high and 40in high formats.
