  • Waste not water, and want not for tax and cost savings

    A study has revealed that a staggering 61% of senior managers do not know how much money their firms spend on water. At the same time the research, from sustainability expert Envirowise, showed that around 57% were unaware of the potential cost savings via reducing water usage typically between 20 and 50% of water supply and disposal charges.

    Cadbury chocolate crumb production plant at Marlbook in Herefordshire has installed an extensive stainless steel modular pipework ducting system. The system, designed and installed by Jex Engineering, is used to transport air heated to 90°C and used in the manufacturing process to the drying tower.

    They're all at it: United Biscuits; Kellogg; Jordans; AB World Foods; Typhoo; Nestlé ... They're all making the most of the weak pound and increasing their presence in export markets. And as a result, new research shows that the value of food and non-alcoholic drink saw a growth of around 5% in 2009 compared with 2008, despite the global financial crisis, says the Food and Drink Federation (FDF). In stark contrast, total UK exports during the same period were down by around 15%.
