"They have been developed for the food on-the-go market during sporting events such as the World Cup," said Sanjay Sighat, senior development chef at the firm.

    Three quarters of shoppers would spend extra on breakfast cereals with messages such as: "keeps you full for longer", "improves digestive comfort", "helps maintain healthy blood cholesterol" and "high in fibre", according to Tate & Lyle (T&L), which polled more than 1,500 people. A third would also pay more for "high in fibre", "reduced fat" and "30% fewer calories" claims.
