Cross channel freight firm France Line International Transport has completed a management buyout (MBO) today (July 22).

France Line md and committee member of the Women in Logistics Network Marie Boyer has taken sole ownership of the company for an undisclosed sum.

I am delighted with the MBO,” said Boyer. “I love the business and the timing felt right. There will be no change for our customers or staff.

“We’ve had some great support from the Business Growth Hub in Manchester and from the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce.

“Now the MBO is complete, I intend to carry on growing the company and will be developing new services to other European countries.”

‘Developing new services’

Boyer became md of the company in 2010 after joining in 1996 as part of a four-month placement.

I was living in France studying at Clermont-Ferrand University and, as part of my degree in international trade with Spanish and English, I had to do a placement abroad,” said Boyer.

“I was looking for a first job in exports, so when the France Line opportunity in Manchester came up, it seemed perfect.”

Based in Urmston, Manchester, France Line specialises in cross channel freight between the UK and France.

It handles full and part trailer loads including: dry and ambient food, industrial cargo and machinery for English and European manufacturers and logistics companies.

Meanwhile, family-owned logistics firm RG Bassett & Sons was acquired last month (June 15) for an undisclosed sum by food logistics group S J Bargh.

Bassett director Claire Bassett said the decision to sell was made as the owner directors approached retirement age.

Mills & Reeve corporate partner Paul Johnson, who advised the sale, said: “The deal will ensure the Bassetts name will continue and the family can rest assured that the company is in the hands of a thriving business which shares its beliefs and values.”
