Gregory Distribution has selected 10 trailers fitted with refrigeration systems to support a contract with Mondelēz International to deliver Cadbury chocolate.

The 10 mono-temperature Carrier Transicold Vector 1550 systems, which are mounted to 15.6m Gray & Adams tri-axle longer semi-trailers (LSTs), will be based in Birmingham, transporting Cadbury’s chocolate around the nation.

The new trailers join a fleet of more than 2,000-strong commercial vehicle assets at Gregory Distribution.

“We have enjoyed a long working relationship with Carrier Transicold UK, and we’re certain our new Vector 1550 units, combined with the LSTs, will provide the ideal mix of capacity, fuel efficiency, low maintenance and reliability for the Cadbury’s contract,” said Andy Price, technical support manager with Gregory Distribution.

Payload potential

Gregory Distribution can maximise its payload potential on the LSTs as a result of the refrigeration unit’s cooling capacity of 14,995W, with optimised fuel efficiency. This is achieved using a combination of a hermetic compressor with an economiser, enabling the use of an efficient 1.5 litre diesel engine.

The economiser supplies up to a 40% increase in refrigeration capacity during pull-down, before automatically reducing during the temperature regulation phase to save fuel – all while ensuring cold chain protection.

Gregory Distribution, which will celebrate 100 years of trading in 2019, serves more than 400 customers based regionally, nationally and internationally.
