Grocery logistics specialist Baylis Distribution has struck a three-year renewal contract with tex-mex giant Discovery Foods to provide a nationwide distribution service via a 3,000-pallet stockholding facility at its Wolverhampton depot.
Under the deal, Baylis collects stock from Discovery Foods’ manufacturing facility in Daventry via a stand trailer system. While most orders are for full pallets, Baylis also offers a case picking service.
Deliveries of five pallets or more are sent directly to supermarket distribution centres and other customers such as Whitbread and 3663, while smaller loads go through Baylis’s eight-depot strong shared user network, said a spokesman. Orders are received via electronic data interchange.
Baylis employs almost 700 people in a nationwide shared-user operation with more than 100 clients including Ferrero Rocher and General Mills.
