In the article on food safety 'Walk the safe line' in the August issue of Food Manufacture, you have on p32 a picture of both the sleeve and the inner pot of Big Prawn's Potted Shrimp, clearly showing signs of spoilage. It is quite upsetting that you have chosen one of our products to display in this article, but also that you have depicted it in this state.

Editor's reply: Food Manufacture would like to make clear that the image accompanying this article was used to show that consumers sometimes don't take notice of clear warnings. Although the picture was captioned: 'Despite manufacturers' best endeavours, recession-strapped consumers are ignoring use-by dates', it did not explain that the product illustrated had been inadvertently kept for days beyond its labelled use-by date. We would like to apologise for any misunderstanding caused.
