Scottish meat business We hae meat has secured a £600,000 deal to supply 50 Co-operative stores across the country.

The new deal will create six jobs at the butcher’s Cairnhill Farm production plant in Ayrshire, which currently employs 50 people.

The deal topped off a “very successful and exciting year” for the Girvan-based family-run business, its company director Alex Paton claimed.

“We are delighted to be working with over 50 Co-op stores and this partnership has allowed us to create jobs for local Ayrshire people,” he said.

Roll out more products

“As we begin to look to 2016, we hope to work closely with the Co-op and have the chance to roll out our premium meat products to even more stores across Scotland.”

Inspired by a desire to bring butcher shop quality to the convenience of the supermarket, the ‘We hae meat’ range, created exclusively for Co-op, includes Beef Olives, Peppered Steak, Haggis Olives, Spiced Beef and Diced Beef, all made using premium, quality assured meat from the family farm.

In April, the company’s range of single portion pies secured a £250,000 deal with Asda Scotland, followed by a £60,000 supply contract for its frozen range.

We hae meat is a family butcher business run by husband and wife team Alex and Carlyn Paton.

Further expansion

Next year, the firm will embark on its biggest expansion yet, with the creation of a new factory facility.

The company is also on track to build on its 300% growth and increase turnover by 25% with aspirations to roll product out south of the border, the firm claimed.

The name of the company is borrowed from the famous Scottish poem the Selkirk Grace, attributed to Robert Burns. See below for the poem.

Meanwhile, Moy Park was crowned the Meat and poultry manufacturing company of the year at the Food Manufacture Excellence Awards, earlier this month.

Moy Park also received the overall Company of the year award. Watch our video interview with the business here.
