Food manufacturer Dr Oetker and Asda recalled a number of food products last week, after it was discovered they contained undeclared allergens.

Dr Oetker has recalled its Regal Ice Ready Rolled Icing White because it contained nuts not mentioned on the ingredients list, specifically almonds.

The manufacturer advised anyone one with an allergy to nuts who bought the product not to eat it and return it to the store they bought it from for a full refund.

The recall applied to 450g packs of the icing with a best before date of August 8 2017 and a batch number of 16221.

Traces of allergens

Asda issued two recalls of its products last week, both for traces of allergens in its products.

The retailer recalled its Main for 2 Vegetable Balti ready meal, because it contained milk that was not declared within its ingredients list. The product could pose a possible health risk to anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk.

The recall applied to 400g packs of the products, with a use-by date of December 7 2016 and had the barcode 5054781137184.

The retailer also recalled its Butcher’s Selection British beef three thin cut steaks with garlic and herb seasoning. That was because they also contained milk – which wasn’t mentioned on the packaging.

Packed incorrectly

Asda said the meat had been packed incorrectly with some beef sirloin steak with garlic and herb butter, which contained milk. The recall applied to 227g packs that had a use-by date of December 5 2016.

Asda issued a recall notice for both of the products, inviting consumers who bought them to return them to their nearest store for a full refund.

Meanwhile, cooked chicken was withdrawn from schools in south Wales on November 7, after potentially harmful levels of listeria were discovered in the product.

The chicken was served in 45 of the 90 schools in Caerphilly it was supplied to. It was unclear if the entire batch of chicken was affected.
