Bacon slicing into stacks or shingles gets a big production boost
Thurne’s IBS 1000 provides ready-to-pack stacked and shingled packs in addition to continuous shingles for bulk applications.
Furthermore, the continuous shingle pack format is available to group slices into visibly defined packs. These will require less handling when packing, which reduces labour requirements and increases pack rates.
The new slicer complies with ‘ready-to-eat’ hygiene standards and uses a high-yield, semi-automatic gripper feed, providing slice thickness control and high quality product presentation.
The slicer is loaded manually via a fast reload mechanism with automatic butt end removal, which, paired with high blade speeds up to 1,500rpm, enables the slicer to achieve throughputs of more than 2t/h.
“We have developed the IBS 1000 with the application and throughput requirements of small and medium-sized UK bacon processors in mind,” says Thurn’s vice president for sales Chris Howard.
“The IBS 1000 offers 150% capacity of a traditional flatbed slicer, and we have seen yield improvements of up to 2%.”
