QV Foods enters consultation over possible job losses

The consultation will discuss a proposal to consolidate its potato business to its Holbeach base, where 125 new roles would be created. The company said it hoped to minimise the number of redundancies by finding suitable roles for as many of its affected employees as possible.

Address its cost base​

It said the proposal would help the company address its cost base and capacity needs while creating the capacity for future growth.

A spokesman for QV Foods said: “The owners of QV Foods are​ fully committed to growing the business for the future, but the company has to have an efficient cost platform on which to do this. ​

“The proposal to consolidate the potato business at the Holbeach site, which sits at the centre of our farming and packing operations, is a logical step to achieving this.​

“We are now entering into consultation with our staff about this proposal; in the meantime it’s business as usual.” ​

£140M turnover fresh produce business​

QV Foods is a £140M turnover fresh produce business, owned by AH Worth, a fourth generation family-owned farming and packing business.

The business operates from several sites across the UK, but predominantly around its heartland of Holbeach, Lincolnshire where it farms 5,000 acres.

It supplies fresh and prepared potatoes and vegetables to retailers, wholesalers, foodservice outlets and industrial processors across the UK and into Europe.

QV Foods has been supplying potatoes and vegetables to its customers since the early 1960s through customer own-labels and QV Foods’s range of brands such as Chippie’s Choice, Potato Lovers, Baby Pearls and Veg Lovers.
