Buckinghamshire yogurt maker Tims Dairy has increased its production to 200t a week with the aid of new end-of-line handling systems supplied by UPM Conveyors.

Tims Dairy, based in Chalfont St Peter, has been making yogurt for 66 years. After significant investment, the dairy now has capacity to produce 200t a week.

The milk is heat treated then combined with live and bio-live cultures to produce a range of Greek style, whole milk and low-fat yogurts.

UPM was consulted to provide solutions to the end-of-line yogurt pot tray packing and stacking into stillages to ensure a smooth transition of product ready for dispatch.

A carousel was designed with work stations that incorporated a central packed tray conveyor to allow operators to pack 150 pots a minute into trays.

These are then transferred to a stillage via the central conveyor. For more information, contact UPM Conveyor.
