Global dairy manufacturers can join Dairy UK as associate members for the first time, chief executive Dr Judith Bryans has told FoodManufacture.co.uk.

Speaking in this exclusive video, Bryans said it was a really exciting time to be in the global dairy industry and allowing global membership would be a valuable resource to UK businesses.

‘Dairy is global’

“Dairy is global these days,” said Bryans. “The dairy industry in the UK has changed over the years after quota ends in 2015 we have very many opportunities.”

It was important to represent the full supply chain – given the global scale of it – and give a voice to non-UK companies that had significant involvement in the UK industry, she said.

“We have many more foreign companies and the global dairy industry has changed. The people who we represent go across the whole supply chain.

“There are people from abroad who we need to represent and we haven’t done that before, but this is the time for our industry to open its doors.”
