Fresh prepared foods manufacturer Bakkavor has welcomed 22 new recruits onto its Accelerated Management Scheme (AMS) this autumn.

Mixing on and off the job training, the scheme runs across a number of key functions of the business including: development, finance, human resources, manufacturing, technical and commercial.

New additions to the scheme this year will be marketing and international specialisms to further support its strategic growth plans.

Marketing AMS graduate Dan Thorne said: “I am really thrilled to be starting at Bakkavor on the Accelerated Management Scheme.

‘On the job training from day one’

“It is great for me to gain on the job training from day one with a leading manufacturer, along with the opportunity to gain valuable insight and experience into the many aspects of the fresh food industry.”

So far more than 240 young people have taken the scheme, which is now in its 16th year.

Developing the next generation of innovators and leaders of the business, giving them a two-year fast track route into senior level management is the aim behind the scheme, said Bakkavor group human resources director Pippa Greenslade.

Two-year fast track route

“We are delighted to be welcoming the new recruits to Bakkavor on the Accelerated Management Scheme which offers individuals a range of opportunities within a fast moving yet supportive environment,” said Greenslade.

“Bakkavor takes their commitment to investing in their people very seriously. We are focused on attracting bright graduates, driving industry leading standards, and nurturing the talent that exists within the business.”

Meanwhile, six finalists are vying for a food and drink manufacturing Oscar in the Young Talent of the Year category of the Food Manufacture Excellence Awards.
