The 2016 Food Manufacture Excellence Awards (FMEAs) are now open for entries. So, if your company wants to be recognised for its achievements and join the celebrations at this year's Venice-themed event, you need to enter these prestigious awards.

Now in their 16th year, the awards celebrate the very best in food and drink manufacturing. They cover all the main industry sectors: from ambient, bakery and beverages to chilled foods, dairy and fresh produce; and from frozen foods, meat and poultry to seafood. The awards are free to enter.

From the winners of the individual category awards, one company will be selected by our independent panel of expert judges to be crowned Food Manufacture Company of the Year.

Other awards will include: Best new use of food ingredients; Environmental initiative of the year; Supply chain initiative of the year; and Training programme of the year. However, to be eligible, applicants for these specialist awards must first have entered one of the main category awards.

Me and My Factory – editor’s choice award

This year we are also launching a new award: The Me and My Factory – editor’s choice award, selected from companies covered in the Me and My Factory section of Food Manufacture over the previous year. The award will be made to the company the editorial team believe has made the most progress over the past year.

In its third year, a Young talent of the year award will be given to the individual aged 25 years or under the judges assess to be the most promising new apprentice or graduate in food and drink manufacture. Last year, it went to Amber Wild, from Worldwide Fruit.

An award will also be made for the Judges’ star performer, presented to a company selected from all entries, that the judges believe deserves recognition for one particular area of its activities. An SME (small and medium-sized enterprise) innovation of the year award will also be made to the best small company whose turnover is less than £10M and employs fewer than 100 staff.

Food Manufacture Personality of the year

Completing the tally of awards, will be Food Manufacture Personality of the year. Now in its 10th year, this award will be presented to the individual who has done most over the past year to raise the profile of the industry.

Overall winner 2015

Last year’s overall winner – Food Manufacture Company of the Year – was Moy Park.

Last year, Bernard Matthew’s group technical director Jeremy Hall picked up the award for his tireless work in reducing campylobacter contamination in fresh poultry.

The winner will be selected by an online poll of our readership from a shortlist of candidates compiled by the Food Manufacture Group editorial team, which will be announced on FoodManufacture.co.uk and the June issue of Food Manufacture and online.

The closing date for receipt of entries is Friday July 15. The winners will be revealed at a fun-packed awards evening at the Hilton Park Lane in London on November 2.
