The UK is home to the world’s most expensive sandwich, salad, ham and loaf bread, according to a personal finance website.

Also included on the world’s most expensive food menu – compiled by FinancesOnline.com – is a £14,720 caviar from the Caviar House & Prunier in London.

The rare caviar from Iran is sold in a 24-karat gold tin can. It is also available in a smaller tin for “only” £736.

£55,974

In total five of the 15 courses on the breakfast, lunch and dinner menu, which would cost you a whopping £55,974, are available in the UK. To see an infographic of the full menu, scroll down to the bottom of this article.

The Bacon Bling in Tangberry’s cafe in Cheltenham offers the most expensive bacon sandwich, at a luxurious £150.

It includes rare breed bacon, black truffles, truffle oil, gold leaf, gold dust and saffron and is a fundraising item for a social education program in Swaziland.

Chris Sibbet, writer at FinancesOnline.com, said most of the foods were expensive because of their ingredients. “These foods are unabashedly opulent, but before you get upset, many of these items were created for fundraising programs, like an auction,” he said.

“Some dishes are easy to imagine why they’re expensive: the ingredients are either rare or take a lot of time and effort to source. What makes Wagyu beef literally a cut above the rest? The cow where the beef comes from is massaged and fed on beer every single day of its short bovine life.”

The most expensive salad in the world was Chef Raymond Blanc’s creation for the 2003 Florette National Salad Week. It consisted of beluga caviar, grated truffle, potatoes with gold leaf, Cornish crab and lobster and 30-year old balsamic vinegar and cost £600.

$35 per slice

The Shepherd Loaf from Hobbs House Bakery in the Cotswolds costs £20 per slice, making it the priciest on the planet and a Albarragena Jamon Iberico de Bellota ham available in London for £1,579 are also included on the menu.

The 7kg ham came from pigs raised in Extremadura in Spain fed on acorns and roots, slaughtered and cured for three years. The ham came with its own DNA certificate.

A slice of cake from the Duke and Duchess of Windsor’s wedding in 1937 is officially the world’s most expensive cake, after it was auctioned by Sotheby’s in 1998.

A piece of the wedding cake was auctioned in February 1998 and fetched $29,900 (17,605).
