A Swansea woman was “horrified” to find a swarm of flies inside the packaging of a Greggs’ baguette she bought for her son.

Sue Powell-Reed bought two baguettes from a Greggs store in Swansea and gave one to her son. Her son, Ben, returned the baguette to his mother’s desk at the Vibe TV company she runs and told her to “take a look”.

It was at that point that Powell-Reed noticed “a lot” of flies crawling around on the bread underneath the packaging.

She posted a video, on social media. It was the first and last time she has ever visited Greggs, Powell-Reed said, according to Wales Online.

Greggs said a scheduled independent hygiene test was carried out at the store four days before the incident and revealed no hygiene issues.

Following an “immediate and through” investigation of the complaint and video, Greggs reassured its customers that there were no food safety problems at the store.
