Belgian biscuit maker Lotus Bakeries has bought Urban Fresh Foods, the manufacturer of Bear fruit snacks and Urban Fruit in a £70M deal.

Belgian biscuit maker Lotus Bakeries has bought Urban Fresh Foods, the manufacturer of Bear fruit snacks and Urban Fruit in a £70M deal.

The acquisition of the London-based healthy snack maker followed Lotus Bakeries’ acquisition of Natural Balance Foods in August. Natural Balance Foods makes gluten-free Nakd and Trek snack bars.

‘Healthy snacking segments’

Lotus boss Jan Boone said: “The mission of Lotus is to create delicious products and brands to meet all consumer needs, both in the more indulgent and healthy snacking segments. That is why we are delighted to announce today the partnership with these magnificent brands.”

Urban Fresh Foods was established in 2007 by husband and wife team Hayley and Abdrew Gait-Golding. The business employs about 40 people.
