Cold-pressed rape seed oil developed for food manufacturers
Norfolk-based cold pressed rapeseed oil producer Larchwood Foods has developed two oils to meet the requirements of the food manufacturing sector: Larchwood Foods Extra Virgin Cold Pressed Rapeseed Oil and Larchwood Foods Extra Virgin High Oleic Cold Pressed Rapeseed Oil.

Hugh Mason, owner of Larchwood Foods, said: "In recent years, consumers have become increasingly health-conscious, and we understand the pressures that are on food manufacturers to reformulate their recipes and reduce saturated fat.

"Making a switch to rapeseed oil is a particularly simple and beneficial way to do this, as it contains an excellent balance of omega-3, 6 and 9, only half the saturated fat found in olive oil and is free from trans fatty acids.

"As well as being much healthier than olive oil, our products work just as well in terms of functionality, and are ideal for a wide range of applications including roasting, sautéing, drizzling, and as a substitute for butter.

"The subtle and delicate taste of rapeseed oil also ensures limited taste transfer to the final recipe and doesn't dominate the flavour of other ingredients. Grown and produced at our farms in Norfolk, our products are also sustainable, fully traceable and low on food miles."

The oils can be used as cold ingredients, release agents and as a replacement for butter in pastries, cakes, breads and sauces. With high smoke points, the products are also ideal for roasting, deep frying and wok frying.
