The line-up for Food Manufacture’s free, one-hour webinar on the EU’s new food labelling rules – which will take place at 11am on Thursday 20 February – is now complete, with the addition of Campden BRI’s new head of regulatory affairs Steve Spice.

Spice joins an expert panel of speakers, including senior managers from Premier Foods, Trading Standards Institute and online event partner law firm DWF.

The webinar – Food Information to Consumers Regulation: what you need to know – aims to arm food businesses with the information they need in order to comply with the new rules, due to be introduced on December 14 2014.

The full line-up is:

Alasdair Tucker, head of regulatory affairs at Premier Foods and chairman of the Food and Drink Federation’s Food Law & labelling Committee, on how one of Britain’s largest food manufacturers is preparing for the changes enshrined in the Food Information Regulation (FIR).

Steve Spice, head of regulatory affairs at Campden BRI.

Corinne Lowe, joint lead officer food and nutrition, Trading Standards Institute, on how the FIR is likely to affect food and drink manufacturers and retailers.

Dominic Watkins, DWF, on the legal framework surrounding the new legislation.

Campden BRI said it has appointed Steve Spice as its new head of regulatory affairs to meet growing demand for its legislative advice, training and consultation services.

He joined the food and drink research company after 15 years at Waitrose, where he was regulatory affairs manager and previously analytical services manager.

Spice has more than 30 years’ industry experience in legislative and technical roles at Nestlé, Leon Frenkel, Cow & Gate and QPeanuts.

Earlier this month Watkins told FoodManufacture.co.uk that the new rules would “change the goalposts” on food labelling laws.

‘Preparing for the change’

“We will hear from different stakeholders discussing some of the key issues that will impact them and how they are preparing for the change,” said Watkins. “This webinar will help to raise awareness and give some tips and hints on areas where business needs to focus in advance of the December 14 deadline.”

Reserve your free place at this online event by emailing Michael.stones@wrbm.com.

There will also be an opportunity to put a question directly to our expert panel. Either email your question in advance to the above email address, or, after logging on to the webinar, submit your query during the presentations on Thursday February 20.
