Cheshire food manufacturer Wrights Food Group has appointed Lisa Smith as its new financial director.

Smith initially joined the third generation family-run business in 2003 as Wrights Pies purchase ledger supervisor, before becoming accountant for the brand in 2006.

The Crewe-based firm’s chairman and ceo, Peter Wright, said he was delighted to welcome her to the board.

“Smith is a dedicated, meticulous and valued member of our team, who has made a hugely significant contribution to the expansion of the business over the last 10 years.

‘Strategically important’

“We’re delighted to welcome her to the board of directors, and I know everyone here will be very supportive of Lisa in this strategically important role.”

Smith, who is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and a Chartered Global Management Accountant, successfully implemented the firms’ auto-enrolment pension scheme for 430 employees.

Wrights Food Group produces pies, sausage rolls, pasties, sandwiches, ready meals, cakes and desserts.

Its £20M Crewe bakery is capable of producing more than 5M savoury products a week.
