“The system supports the site’s needs and ability to change and uses a structured approach developed over a period of time that drives a culture of continuous improvement,” said Killen.

He added: “Heinz Global Performance System is built on a set of foundations, such as leading and managing change, environmental health and safety, 5S, focused improvement, team work and visual management.”

To read more about Killen and Heinz Kendal, don’t miss the Me & My Factory feature in next month’s edition of our sister magazine Food Manufacture published on Tuesday, September 6.

In this interview, Killen talks about the importance of China as a world market for Heinz and how the 2008 melamine scandal drove Chinese businesses to Europe to source formula milk.
