Heinz UK & Ireland has appointed Jan Kruise as its new md, replacing Phil Jones.

Jones, who had held the role since July 2013, will leave the firm to “pursue other opportunities”​, the firm said.

He initially joined the business in 2006 as foodservice director.

Kruise joins from Heinz Central, North & East Europe, where he had been md and was responsible for Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Nordics, Poland and Eastern Europe.

He joined the business in 2002 after 13 years at Unilever

Heinz UK & Ireland operates from six sites – Wigan, Telford, Worcester, Westwick, Kendal and Dundalk, Ireland. These produce the Heinz, Farley’s, TinyTums, Weight Watchers, Aunt Bessie’s, Alveston, KitchensTM, Lea & Perrins, HP Sauce, Daddies, Amoy and Ross brands.

The Kitt Green factory, in Wigan, produces more than 1bn cans per year of beans, soups and pasta meals and is one of Heinz’s largest food factories around the world.

Heinz employs approximately 2,500 people across the UK and Ireland
