Can manufacturer Rexam’s aluminium Fusion pack has seen its first application in the outdoor events market for wine, suggesting that metal could have a place alongside plastics in this lucrative market.
A limited edition 25cl version of Rexam's hybrid can-bottle pack was produced for brandowner Canella Wine's Bellini drink: a sparkling wine-and-peach cocktail, distributed at the New Year in Venice, Italy. The packs were produced at the firm's Epjovice plant in the Czech Republic.
Owner of the wine firm Lorenzo Canella said: "Glass is not permitted at many public events, and we did not believe plastic had the right qualities to house our Bellini drink."
