Open Date's chief executive Gary Cowlard said: "By using three stepper motors, rather than compressed air like conventional machines, the iQ has fine pressure adjustments, which means the life of the print head can be doubled in many applications.
"This control leads to greater print accuracy without loss of speed. Currently the printer can achieve 800 cycles a minute. So it can operate on almost any food production line and tailored to suit."
The printer can be easily installed at various points along a production line, and a number of units can be networked and controlled from its touch screen.
"Not only is the IQ more sustainable to operate," said Cowlard, "it can also be used in environments where cleanliness is paramount and potential contamination by compressed air is a factor. This helps to take away an additional risk factor for food producers."
