Pouch coding system meets growth in demand
A pouch feeding and coding system that can personalise codes at twice the speed of its existing kit, will be unveilled by Rotech.

Pouch attributes, such as size, ease of opening, increased use of sustainable material and the ability to customise packs, is driving more companies to switch from rigid packaging.

In 2014, almost 90bn of stand-up pouches were used globally and market research estimates the market is projected to reach $33.4bn by 2020.

Coding pouches offline in their flat form is the simplest way to comply with stringent labelling legislation, ensuring a consistently clear, perfectly positioned code, claims Rotech.

“Demand for pouches is being driven by a range of factors including machinery speed improvements and the ability to incorporate re-sealable features, such as zippers and sliders,” says Rotech director Chris Baker.

The new system is a standalone vacuum feed overprinting system that enables pouches to be coded at speeds of more than 80 a minute off-line, with a print area of up to 200mm wide.
