Multihead gives ‘snap’ to cereals

04-Nov-2010

A Swiss breakfast cereal manufacturer has improved efficiencies on its packing lines, thanks to a new 16-head four-mix multihead weigher.

Kentaur, which supplies leading retailers such as Migros, is using an Ishida 'R' series multihead to control and weigh four-part mixtures. The system can also adapt to any combination down to a single component.

Plant manager Andreas Hebeisen said: "The packaging process is now significantly faster, and the mixing function gives us great flexibility."

Product is fed to a vibratory conveyor and, once weighed, is dosed into a bagmaking machine in target weights of between 150g and 750g.
