Monomaterial dosing closure

By Paul Gander, 24-Dec-2010

Plastics closure maker Bericap has launched a valve closure for sauces and ketchups that doesn’t use silicon and can be monomaterial polypropylene for easier recycling.

Valve-function closures dose liquid or viscous products from a squeezable bottle, leaving a clean aperture. But with the Bericap version, a relatively costly and unrecyclable silicon valve is not required. In both the one-piece and two-piece variants, the new closure can be recycled, said the company.

The hinged cap is already being used by a ketchup brand in Turkey, and there has been interest from the US and central Europe, Bericap reported.
