Fast, advanced gas-flush pot filling equipment has been despatched to the Western Isles of Scotland to help meet growing demand for alternatives to dairy products.
Packaging Automation's Fastfill 60 will be filling, heat sealing and overcapping 255ml pots of Bute Island Foods' cheese alternative, Sheese, at Rothsay on the Isle of Bute in the Firth of Clyde.
The machinery applies a foil lid and plastic overcap at a rate of 35 pots per minute.
The company, which makes a range of animal-free food products, needed equipment that would ensure smooth product flow while providing modified atmosphere packaging to prolong the new product's shelf-life.
Director Guy Crichton says: "We met the Packaging Automation team at the PPMA show in Birmingham last year. We liked their product knowledge and were particularly impressed with their range of machines. The Fastfill 60 was the fastest machine that met all of our requirements - and at a good price."
