Low carbon in the fast lane

01-Apr-2011

The UK is seeing its first packaging explicitly designed to meet the carbon reduction commitments of the Courtauld Commitment 2.

Sharpak has launched its improved C-low mushroom punnet, incorporating a mineral filler and post-consumer waste sourced from the UK. The firm says it provides a 33% lower carbon footprint than standard virgin polymer punnets and the carbon impact is 10% lower than the original version launched last year.

Md Andrew Copson said: "The launch of our improved technology supports the aims of Courtauld 2 and its target to reduce the carbon impact of grocery packaging by 10%."
