Higher packing performance is in the crisp bag

Ishida's Atlas range of snack food bagmakers have been enhanced to the extent that their performance on crisp packing has been raised by 35%, making 150 bags a minute possible on a single machine.

The improvement is thanks to Ishida's charge transfer control (CTC) system, which the firm claims can be easily retrofitted to existing Atlas machines without increasing floor space requirements.

The CTC enhances the weighing and bagmaking operation by providing greater control of the product charge, the process where product is transferred from the weigher through the bagmaker. The resulting reduction in product charge length means speeds can be controlled to deliver increased throughput while contributing to lower product and film waste.

Key to the CTC's operation is a high-speed chute design with a rotary poker and shutter system, combined with gentle product handling. A hygienic construction ensures simple maintenance and cleaning, and the CTC requires no dedicated tooling, which enables fast changeovers. Monitoring and control is via a control screen.
