For the first time, plastics converter Faerch Plast UK has said it is forming frozen food trays from a high-impact strength grade of crystalline polyethylene terephthalate (CPET) for better performance at low temperatures.
While impact tests on rigid plastics are normally carried out using the flat sheet, Faerch Plast said it designed its own tests using the trays themselves to more closely mimic supply chain conditions.
CPET is dual ovenable, and so ideal for ready meal applications.
