Dual-lane biscuit packer launch

Innovation in biscuit packaging was a highlight of Bosch’s stand at the recent Interpack show held in Düsseldorf. It came in the form of a dual-lane version of its ‘two-in-one’ biscuit packing system and followed the launch of a single-lane system at Interpack in 2014.

The new high-performance system is claimed to go even further than the single-lane design in terms of flexibility and speed.

It is claimed to be the first system to produce single, pile and slug packs on two independently operating lanes and offer high overall equipment effectiveness.

“The development of the ‘two-in-one’ biscuit packing system builds on our existing market success,” says Daniel Bossel, product manager at Bosch Packaging Technology.

The new Sigpack DHRG shown as part of the production line is capable of forming up to 400 rows of round, oval or square-shaped biscuits a minute, which can be fed in a sorted or unsorted way. This packaging approach is said to ensure gentle and flexible handling of the product.

Two lanes transport the biscuits flat to the new Sigpack HMAD flow wrapper, a dual-sealing station, which ensures gentle handling.

This flow wrapper is said to offer high speed with either hot or cold sealing. Heat sealing can achieve film speeds of up to 90m/min, while cold sealing speeds can reach,150m/min. The two lanes can package up to 2,400 biscuits a minute.

What’s more, biscuit manufacturers can configure each lane to produce different packaging formats in varying batch sizes.
