Thermoforming and tray sealing equipment manufacturer Mecaplastic recently installed its S3000 Automatic Sealing machine at ready-meal supplier Glens of Antrim, so helping the company to gain orders from Tesco, Sainsbury, Asda and Dunnes Stores.
The sealing machine is being used on a meal from the Rankin Selection, a range of products endorsed by Ireland's first celebrity chef brand, Paul Rankin. The product, a combination of crushed potatoes, spring onions and roast garlic, is supplied in a sealed crystalline polyethylene terephthalate tray with printed card sleeve.
The Mecaplastic S3000 can seal any kind of food product and comes with a new partial tooling system that simplifies format changes and reduces tooling costs. It can process up to 34 items a minute on full capacity based on a two-pocket die.
