The accuracy of wide-aperture metal detection in bulk packs and products has taken a leap forward with the introduction of a more sensitive system, says supplier Mettler Toledo Safeline.
"There's been an acceptance that there'll be reduced sensitivity on wide-aperture applications," said marketing manager Neil Giles. "But we have a new coil system that improves that sensitivity, plus new algorithms to enhance it further."
The RB Series Profile unit has a 650mm x 400mm aperture. Ferrous, non-ferrous and even non-magnetic stainless grades such as 316 can be identified, the company said, and false rejects dramatically reduced.
