There are six categories in the awards, which cover quality assured pork cuts and products: Fresh Pork Cut; Pork Ready Meal (fresh or frozen); Best Cold Eating Product (cooked, chilled or frozen); Pork and Pastry (fresh or frozen); Best Cured Product; and Best Innovative Pork Product (fresh or frozen).
New research points to growing out-of-home demand for pork.

The closing date for paper entries is Friday May 25, 2012, after which samples will be required for formal judging (by Tuesday May 29, 2012).
Winners will be invited to attend a special awards lunch at Butchers' Hall, London on Friday June 15, where the 2012 champion will also be announced.
