Frozen gravy is the latest product to be unveiled at Tryton Foods in Yorkshire. The gravy is the newest member of the £133m Aunt Bessie’s, which has proved to be the fastest growing brand within the static frozen food market with year-on-year growth of 17%.
The gravy is made from real meat juices in beef and chicken varieties and is available in 400g packs of frozen cubes - enough for four servings.
“We know from our own consumer research that real home-made gravy, that is made from scratch using meat stock, is a firm family favourite, yet fewer and fewer consumers have the skill or time to make it,” says Tryton Foods’ commercial director John Hendy. “For many, making ‘real’ gravy is just too time consuming, while, for others, it is simply the fact that they lack the confidence to make gravy from scratch. They are intimidated, both in terms of producing the right quality and in the quantities required. “Aunt Bessie’s gravies give the consumer all the taste and quality of home-made gravy ready to serve straight from frozen in under five minutes, in a format that allows the consumer to choose how much they want to serve,” he adds.
