Danisco pursues yogurt drinks

Yogurt drinks hold significant potential, with Asia-Pacific and South America the regions promising some of the strongest growth, according to Sonia Huppert, global business director for Danisco’s Yo-Mix yogurt ingredient brand.

"The drinking yogurt market is the fastest growing segment within the fermented milk market," said Huppert. "The regions identified with the most potential are Asia-Pacific and South America which are the traditional yogurt-drinking countries.

"Drinking yogurt is the best area where the dairy industry could innovate and reduce cost, especially by processes where there is addition of water, whey, etc, to the drinking yogurt."

She was speaking after Danisco enlarged its Yo-Mix range of yogurt cultures, adding a greater variety of flavours, textures and applications to suit local markets.
