Berson UV has launched an aerial assault on pests in the workplace with a new range of powerful ultra-violet (UV) light exterminators.
With 250% higher output but using 60% less energy than conventional Insectron lamps, the UV-A lights generate a peak wavelength of between 350-360nm - said to be fatally attractive to houseflies.
The lamps can also be fitted with a separate green light (right) to double their kill rate, since flying insects are attracted to UV-A light, but those at rest are beguiled by green.
Life span for the lamps is up to one year, says Berson, by which time their output is still 2.5 times that of conventional bulbs. They are effective over 400m2.
The UV-A lights are lead-free to comply with upcoming regulations and constructed of stainless steel with IP65-rated splash proof housings.
The Insectron EX range is also ATEX approved for use in explosive, dusty and wet areas.
