Robots with magnetic 'hands' are giving loaf tins the gentle touch at independent baker Frank Roberts and Sons.
The ABB IRB 6600 six-axis robots from RTS Flexible Systems - the first to be deployed in a UK bread tin store - are part of an £800,000 automation package, which is expected to pay back in material and labour savings over two years.
Roberts' chief engineer Chris Daniels says he expects the bread tins to last twice as long as those handled manually.
